‘Kinky Boots’ Performance at Macy’s Day Parade Provokes Outrage

The "Bile R US" crowd at it again.

One part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade wasn’t agreeable to America’s social conservatives.

That would be the performance by the cast of “Kinky Boots,” an award-winning Broadway musical about a straight-laced shoe factory owner’s partnership with a drag queen who helps him turn his business around.

Although the show’s message is of acceptance and tolerance and the performance was relatively tame (honestly, it was way too cold to show very much skin!), right wingers across America took to social networks to voice their outrage at NBC for broadcasting it.

I wonder how some of the “social conservatives” explain guns to their little kids? Like last year’s Sandy Hook shootings. It all happened in December too, and was all over TV and the media.

Sure, there wasn’t a float, balloon or big dance number in the Macy’s parade…yet. But, I would think some of their methods for explaining someone killing little kids could be used to explain just about anything. They seem to have many ways of excusing all of that as just a part of everyday life in America. Try that.

Oh for heaven’s sake. Explanation: “Sometimes grown-ups like to play dress up too.”
If the kids are old enough to need more of an explanation, odds are they already know enough to be able to handle a bit more information, but I’d imagine “Is that the Spiderman balloon down the street?” would be enough to distract a kid from a bunch of people in thigh high boots pointlessly singing in the street.

The real question is why conservative adults are so interested in the folks in the boots…

“So I sit down to watch the Macy’s Day parade with my 9 yr old daughter, a 40+ year tradition for me, and NBC and Macy’s decide the 3rd act will be the musical act from Kinky Boots, promoting homosexuality and cross dressing. It took about 2 seconds for my daughter to see that something was not quite right when she noticed the cross dressing Cabernet [sic] singer. ‘Dad, that’s a man, and he’s kinda creepy.’”

Of all things to get worked up over, Kinky Boots really isn’t one of them. It’s actually a quite innocuous story. The movie was rated PG-13, it’s not exactly hardcore gay porn.

So some people like to dress up on days other than Halloween. Big fucking deal.

All just more tut-tutting from the church lady crowd that sees the decline of godly western civilization in EVERYTHING.

Meanwhile, in real news that actually should outrage people, I see you posted the below, which was floating over this headline. Comparing the two outrages … well:

Riot police, swinging truncheons and spraying bursts of tear gas, early Saturday, forcibly broke up a crowd of several hundred demonstrators

It is so interesting how SUPERFICIAL and IRRELEVANT the concerns of right-wingers are. Actual people are hurt, they don’t even seem to know. Pouty widdle fee-fees are hurt, and ZOMG! FREAKOUT!!
